Dr Jacques Gilloteaux is Professor of Anatomical Sciences in the KBT
Global Scholars Programme, St George’s International School of Medicine, in
the School of Life Sciences. He graduated from Louvain University, Belgium
in 1974, where he started off his university career teaching Histology in
Louvain and was awarded support from the Belgian government to pursue a
postdoctoral research at the INSERM - Cancer in Lille, France until
1975. Between 1976 and 1979 Dr Gilloteaux became Instructor in Cell Biology
at the Medical School of the State University of New York (SUNY) in Stony
Brook, USA and was Assistant Professor at the SUNY Upstate Medical Centre at
Syracuse.
After a distinguished career encompassing senior positions in a number of
American institutions including the NE Ohio Universities College of
Medicine, LE College of Osteopathic Medicine and the American University of
the Caribbean School of Medicine, he joined St George’s University School of
Medicine as Associate Course Director of Histology.
Throughout his career, Dr Gilloteaux has taught, mentored and graduated 12
Masters and four PhD students as well as several postgraduate MD in research
topics. He has also taught and research entirely specialised courses in
Cell Biology, Cell Ultrastructure, Cell Motility and Muscle, Cytochemistry
and Histochemistry, including laboratories, and Biology of Aging. He is
also honorary professor with the U.S. Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honour
Society in 1995 and elected U.S. Member of the Federative International
Committee for Anatomical Terminology.
